LIFE IS BETTER WITH A DOBE.

Adopt-a-Dobe is a not-for-profit rescue society located in Edmonton, Alberta. Our purpose is to rehabilitate and rehome Dobermans in need throughout Western Canada (BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan).

We are built on five core pillars, with the ultimate goal of one day making our organization unnecessary through public education and responsible ownership:

1. Rescue & Lifelong Support
Saving Dobermans from shelters and inevitably euthanasia, rehabilitating and rehoming them throughout Western Canada, and guaranteeing lifetime support for every dog adopted through our program.

2. Ethical Breeding Education
Educating the public on what constitutes responsible breeding, including health testing, titling, and breeding for breed betterment rather than profit; providing referrals to ethical breeders.

3. Behavior & Training Resources
Providing free behavior consultations and training resources to the public. We advocate for humane training methods and follow Susan Friedman’s hierarchy of behavior change procedures, according to the least intrusive, effective intervention principle. We are specialists in fear and aggression.

4. Breed Advocacy
Working to break down the stigmas surrounding the breed by highlighting their specific characteristics, their working nature, and their need for a “job.”

5. Rescue Transparency
Advocating for ethical, transparent rescue practices that always place the welfare of the animals above all else.
