About Adopt-a-Dobe

Saving one DOBE will not change the world, but surely for that one DOBE the world will change forever.

Adopt-a-Dobe is a not-for-profit rescue society located in Edmonton, Alberta. Our purpose is to rehabilitate and rehome Dobermans in need throughout Western Canada (BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan).

We support the ethical breeding of purebred dogs and will always work to reunite displaced dogs with their breeder if possible.

We advocate for reward-based training methods and believe that using humane, effective, evidence-based behavior modification is an integral part of promoting animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.

Our team

Lindsay

Founder

Lindsay is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CDPT-KA) and has been involved in animal sheltering/welfare since 2008. She was introduced to Dobermans by her sister, Candice, and has grown to love them for their intelligence, beauty, and personality. Lindsay has lived with and rehomed numerous Dobermans and has extensive experience with fear and aggression cases. Aside from Dobes, she also has an affinity for Chihuahuas and hairless pets.

Candice

Director

Candice of FiveAM Reg’d Dobermans has been involved with Dobermans since 1987 when she purchased her first male. Starting out in conformation showing, she has seen the value in working dogs being able to work and is now also interested in agility, nosework, and rally obedience. Candice and her husband currently live with their special needs girl, Alice, and Pagan, Canada’s No. 1 Doberman in conformation in 2021 and 2022.

Tara

Director

Tara has worked in the veterinary field for 12 years. During her off time she’s worked with many different rescues and is a huge advocate for force free training. A lover of all canines, her first ever dog was a Dobe mix and they have since been one of her favourite breeds.

Anjie

Director

Anjie has been involved in rescue since 2013. She was one of the original founding members of the Greater Edmonton Animal Rescue Society (GEARS) and is now the President of Muttstock, a charitable music festival that raises funds for birth control implants for animals in underserved communities.

Jazmine

Director

Jaz is the Vice President of Muttstock, working alongside fellow Director, Anjie. Jaz has been a valued member of the Edmonton rescue community for over a decade and has volunteered with a number of organizations in different capacities over the years.
