As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we are always looking for more volunteers!

Because we do not have a shelter or facility, our biggest need is always foster homes. Foster homes provide temporary care in their homes until the dogs are adopted. We require a minimum of 2 weeks in foster care, so that we can accurately assess each dog’s behavior and health. The typical stay for a dog in foster care is around 2 months; however, dogs with behavioral or medical issues may need more time to become “adoption ready.” Adopt-a-Dobe provides supplies and veterinary care, and foster parents provide TLC and basic care such as feeding, exercising, grooming, and socialization.

Aside from fostering, other things we need volunteers for are:

  • Events (planning, setting up, talking to public, handling dogs, etc.)
  • Training/behavior support (force-free methods only)
  • Flight escorts (Vancouver to Edmonton)
  • Home visits
  • Reference checks
  • Transportation (dogs, donations, supplies, etc.)
  • Administration
  • Fundraising (planning/executing)
  • Marketing/social media
  • Photography (for adoption profiles)
  • Graphic design for marketing & educational materials
  • Grant writing
